Life Skills School Program

Life Skills School Program

In response to the high prevalence of alcohol and substance abuse among youth in Kiambu County, CEEC, with support from DKA Austria, is partnering with 10 schools in Kikuyu Subcounty to strengthen students’ capacity in life skills. This is a continuation of a Life Skills project that has been running since 2022 and which aims at equipping learners with knowledge, practical competencies, and information on the risks associated with alcohol and substance abuse, empowering them to say no to drugs.

In 2026, a six-days life skills training of 60 students from the 10 participating schools will be conducted, followed by peer education initiatives which will be spearheaded by the trainees in their respective schools, fostering a culture of substance use prevention.  Parents of the trained students will also be sensitized to enhance their capacity to support the students in alcohol and substance abuse prevention. The project will also have a school outreach component, covering all 10 participating schools, focusing on life skills development and substance abuse prevention.
