Conflict Resolution Training

Conflict Resolution Training

With the support of GIZ Kenya, Promoting Employability and Entrepreneurship in Turkana West (ProSEET) project, CEEC conducted a series of nonviolent conflict resolution training for Department of Refugee Services (DRS) staff members in October-December 2025. The training which took place in Kakuma brought together a total of 91 management and field officers and it was delivered in four cohorts of 5 days each. Some of the outcomes were strengthened capacity of staff on conflict analysis, dispute resolution mechanisms as well as gender and conflict sensitive programming and service delivery. These are critical skills in contexts where complex socio-economic conditions often give rise to tensions and conflict among refugees, as well as between refugees and host communities.

Participants committed to integrate conflict analysis in DRS programming, apply conflict and gender-sensitive approaches across DRS operations, strengthen collaboration with community leaders for peaceful co-existence between refugees and host communities as well as promote and disseminate nonviolent conflict resolution knowledge and skills among the refugee population.
